Doug Reid



    I was born on the NE 07 60 19 W3rd near present day Rapid View. I have seven siblings (5 boys and 2 girls). We lived on a farm.

    I attended Compass Elementary school and then completed my secondary schooling at Carpenter High School in Meadow Lake.

    My post secondary training included stints at: Teacher’s College in Saskatoon, Universities of Saskatoon (special ed and art), Calgary (gifted ed.) and Gonzaga (administration).
    Specialized training included: CPR, first aid, disaster management, CISM, JP, Search and rescue, hail crop adjusting

    Audrey (Battleford 2000 lions) and I were married in 1971. We have two sons. Evan is member of the Historic Battleford Lions Club. His wife Suzanne is a member of the Battleford 2000 Club. They have two wonderful boys. Layne and his wife Jackie live in Meadow Lake.

    My work experience has involved thirty years in education. I have been a guidance counselor, vice principal, and principal. Highlights were early involvement with the fledgling Council for exceptional children, introduction of gifted education, introduction of Kindergarten programming.

    Since retiring from education I spent 15 years with the Dept. of Justice. I was a Justice of the Peace with endorsement for domestic violence. I held ex parte hearings in emergencies and issued court orders to protect victims. I have trained JP both here in Saskatchewan and in Iqualuit, Nunavut. I was the JP for the City of North Battleford as well as a bylaw court judge.
