Bev Charles was born in Glasgow, Montana, but raised
in Dickinson North Dakota; the oldest of eleven children, eight girls
and three boys, all of whom live in North Dakota except the youngest.
After graduating from Trinity High School, she attended North Dakota
State University for two years before marrying Dave Charles, November
23, 1973. Bev and Dave then moved to the Naval Air Station at Lemoore,
California for the last two years of Dave’s naval enlistment. They have

and ten cities within those four states. She attended four
universities: North Dakota State University, Montana State University,
Montana Tech of the University of Montana, and the University of Mary;
where she graduated in 2005 with honors in Mathematics. Wherever Dave
and Bev have lived, they have always been very active in their church,
their children’s schools and the communities they have lived in.
Bev first learned about Lions in 2003, when she
moved to Bismarck, North Dakota. She received the Club President
Excellence Award as President of the Bismarck Prairie Rose Lions for
2007 – 2008. That same year her club earned the District Club of the
Year Award. She has been 5NC Zone 2A Chairperson and is also a
Certified Guiding Lion. In 2009 Bev graduated from the Great Plains
Lions Leadership Institute and also attended the USA/Canada Lions
Leadership Forum in Memphis.
Bev and Dave will celebrate their 37th Wedding
anniversary this November. They have two daughters and son-in-laws, Ann
and Brennon McKenzie and Rebecca and Shane Naslund; and three
grandchildren: Warren (6), Luke (3), and Katrina (8 months). They are
looking forward to their fourth grandchild, Brogan Eric, this July!
Bev currently works part time at Bismarck Sewing and
Quilting as a clerk and instructor teaching classes. She loves spending
time with family and friends and sharing new ideas, adventures and
learning experiences.
As District Governor, Lion Bev’s goal for this
coming year is to build a good foundation for our new western district
in North Dakota through team work and relevant fun service.

Larry was born in Des Moines, Iowa and lived there until 1972 when he
joined the Air Force. After Technical School in 1973 his first
assignment was Ellsworth AFB in South Dakota. He has lived in
Rapid City, South Dakota since that time. Shortly after his
discharge from the Air Force he hired on with the Federal Aviation
Administration (FAA) in Rapid City as an Electronics Systems Specialist
and served in that capacity for 32 years. He retired from the FAA
on August 29th of 2009.
Larry
joined the Rapid City Metropolitan Lions in 1980. He has served
as Club President three times, and has held all club offices, most more
than once. He has been a District Secretary/Treasurer once,
District Treasurer once, Zone Chair twice, Regional Chair, and has been
Cabinet Chair on numerous committees. He attended the Great
Plains Lions Leadership Institute and the USA/Canada Forum in
2009. In October of 2009 he took part in a Lions Extension
Workshop and became a Certified Guiding Lion.
Larry is
also an active member of his church and serves on the Board of
Directors of other organizations in Rapid City. He feels he has
been very blessed and is always looking for ways to give back to his
community and the world. He was very excited when he heard
1st VP Sid Scruggs’ Vision for 2010-2011 “More Service” because
it fell right in line with Larry’s goal for the year, an emphasis on
our Lions motto “We Serve”.
