 |
District Governor Louise Schley
Email:
Lion Louise was born in Browerville, Minnesota. Lived there until
5th grade and then moved to Eveleth, MN. Graduated from Eveleth
High School. She worked for a medical clinic for 9 years in Virginia
MN. She meet PDG Ray at the bowling alley, not a surprise to
those who know him. We married during spring break March 15,
1969. After he completed college at UMD, we moved to the state of
Virginia. In 1973, we moved back to Duluth MN where PDG Ray
started his career in railroading. In 1983, we again moved to
Export, PA for 5 years and then came back to SD in 1988. Lived in
Brookings SD where I joined the Brookings Lions Club in 2001. In
2002, we moved to Sioux Falls and have been there since.
During these moves, She has been involved in Boy Scouts, American
Cancer, and General Federation of Women’s Clubs. Lion Louise
owned a sewing business for years. Along with this, she worked in
different jobs. However, her first job was raising their son’s, Jeffrey
(Karen), Dennis (Teresa) and Paul (Jolene). They have been
blessed with three grandsons and three granddaughters.
Lion Louise joined Lions in 2001. She was one of the first that
PDG Ray installed into Lions as a new District Governor. She had
traveled with her husband to many conventions, forums and other Lions
functions for years so this was a good choice. Lion Louise has
served as Secretary, President and on the board of her club.
Through out this she has served as District 5 SE Secretary for four
District Governors as well as treasurer for two of them. Lions
Louise has been 100% Secretary for 3 years. Helped produce a
Lions Public Service video as PR chairman, served as Leo Chairman for
the District. Lion Louise has trained several secretaries on both
the MD 5 and District 5 SE Cabinet. Served on the SD Lions
Foundation Board. Attended to many Fall Forum, State Conventions,
MD 5 Conventions, Fall Rally’s for 5 SW, USA/Canada Forum LCI
Conventions. Has received numerous district and LCI. The one
thing she said benefitted her was to attend the Great Plains Leadership
Training.
During the time, she served as an auxiliary member at three different
hospitals. Served as President of the Avera McKennan Aux. and the
State Aux. Board. Been active in Church and her club.
Love to travel and have done most of the driving for years to all of
the functions of Lions.
By being District Governor, I hope to serve District 5 SE and the MD 5
to the best of my ability.
