PID Bruce Schwartz - 2002-2004
Bruce Schwartz, of Bismarck, North Dakota, USA, was elected to serve a two-year term as a director of The International Association of Lions Clubs at the association’s 85th International Convention, held in Osaka, Japan, July 8-12, 2002. Past Director Schwartz is an insurance sales professional. A Lion since 1962 and a member of the Bismarck Lions Club since 1983, Past Director Schwartz has held many offices within the association, including club president, zone chairperson, region chairperson and district governor. He is currently a district Leader Dogs for the Blind chairperson and district Leadership trainer. In recognition of his service to the association, Past Director Schwartz has received numerous awards, including six 100% Club Secretary Awards, the 100% Club President Award, the 100% District Governor Award, the Membership Growth Master Key Award (22 members), four International President’s Certificates of Appreciation and the Ambassador of Good Will Award, the highest honor the association bestows upon its members. He is also a Melvin Jones Fellow. In addition to his Lions activities, Past Director Schwartz is active in numerous professional and community organizations. He has been a member of the Bismarck- Mandan Civic Chorus since 1977 and was inducted into the Northern Plains Fraternal Insurance Counselors Hall of Fame in 2002. Previously, Past Director Schwartz was selected as conductor of the Governor’s Band of North Dakota and served as manager of the North Dakota All-State Music Festival for six years. He was a recipient of the Outstanding Young Educator Award and the North Dakota Fraternalist of the Year Award. He is the past president of the following organizations: the North Dakota Music Educators Association, the North Dakota Education Association, the Bismarck- Mandan Civic Chorus, the North Dakota Fraternal Congress and the Northern Plains Fraternal Insurance Counselors. Past Director Schwartz and his wife, Julie, also a Lion, havd two children and four grandchildren
